BOSTON, MA – As Governor Maura Healey takes the stage at the Democratic Convention tonight, Massachusetts voters can expect plenty of attacks on President Trump, Washington politicians, and anyone else she can blame for the problems facing the Commonwealth.
What voters should not expect is an honest discussion of her own record.
Here are 15 things the Shortsleeve campaign predicts won’t be mentioned by Governor Healey:
Her support for a candy tax.
Her support for a cable tax.
Her support for taxes on prescription medications.
Her proposal to allow municipalities to significantly increase auto excise taxes.
Spending billions of taxpayer dollars on the migrant shelter crisis.
Housing illegal immigrants without conducting comprehensive background checks.
Serious crimes committed by individuals housed in the state’s emergency shelter system.
Her administration’s repeated efforts to downplay or withhold information about incidents occurring in state-funded shelters.
Her infamous response that “things will happen” when asked about crimes committed within the shelter system.
The hiring of Lamar Cook, an alleged cocaine kingpin, to work in state government.
Her broken promise to lead the most transparent administration in Massachusetts history.
Blocked two natural gas pipeline projects that could have helped lower energy costs.
Massachusetts ranking near the bottom nationally in economic competitiveness.
Massachusetts families paying some of the highest utility costs in America.
Massachusetts ranking last in job growth among the states.
As much as we will hear about President Trump, the truth is businesses and people are not fleeing to North Carolina, Florida, Texas and New Hampshire because of Trump. He’s president there too. They are leaving because of Maura Healey. They live with the consequences of her policies every day. They see it in their utility bills, housing costs, tax burden, and the growing number of residents and businesses leaving the Commonwealth for states with stronger economic growth and lower costs.
Massachusetts voters need a new governor focused on Massachusetts – not DC politics.
