Brian Shortsleeve for Massachusetts BOSTON, MA – Today, Brian Shortsleeve delivered a decisive performance in the Fall River Reporter/New Bedford Guide gubernatorial debate in New Bedford, drawing a clear contrast with fellow candidate Mike Kennealy and highlighting his plan to defeat Maura Healey in November.
Shortsleeve was the only candidate on stage who consistently outlined a Day One plan to lower costs, restore accountability, and get Massachusetts moving in the right direction. Throughout the debate, he emphasized that the path to victory in November requires both a clear message and a willingness to confront the failures of one-party rule on Beacon Hill.
“Last night was about showing voters who is ready to lead and who is ready to win,” said Shortsleeve. “I laid out exactly what I will do on Day One to lower energy costs, rein in spending, and restore accountability in state government. Voters are tired of talk. They want action, and they want a governor who understands what it takes to actually beat Maura Healey.”
Notably absent from the debate was candidate Mike Minogue, who declined to participate and instead chose to attend a separate event nearby, avoiding questions about his background and record.
“No Show Mike Minogue once again disrespected both convention delegates and primary voters by refusing to step up and answer tough questions about his business record and his ability to defeat Maura Healey,” Shortsleeve added. “His continued refusal to engage in this process should be a stark warning to Republicans in Massachusetts. Mike Minogue is desperately trying to hide his platform and his history from you, why is that?”
