Brian Shortsleeve for Massachusetts BOSTON, MA – Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Shortsleeve today reacted to Attorney General Andrea Campbell finally allowing Auditor Diana DiZoglio to secure outside counsel and move forward with her lawsuit seeking access to legislative records under the voter-approved audit law.
“For months, Campbell and Beacon Hill Democrats have tried to block a law supported by 72 percent of Massachusetts voters as Maura Healey hid and hoped she wouldn’t be next. Today is a step toward finally forcing transparency on a Legislature that believes it answers to nobody. Thank you to the Supreme Judicial Court for forcing Campbell’s hand,” said Shortsleeve.
“Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent, what settlements are being paid out, and why politicians fought so hard to keep basic financial records hidden from the public. The people voted for transparency and Beacon Hill should stop fighting them.”
