Shortsleeve Statement on Utility Study Commission

BOSTON, MA –  Today, Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor issued the following statement regarding the Joint Utilities and Energy Committee hearing on S.3205.

“You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out why electricity prices in Massachusetts are so high — it’s Maura Healey’s mandates and policies.  Now, Beacon Hill wants to hide behind another special commission instead of admitting the obvious failures of the Healey administration.  Families are getting crushed by sky-high utility bills because this administration keeps forcing us to buy the most expensive energy in the country and tacks expensive fees onto our bills to support their ideological agenda. We solve the problem by electing a new governor. As governor, I’ll end the mandates, cut the surcharges, and finally make Massachusetts affordable for working families,” said Shortsleeve.
