Shortsleeve Calls for Firing of Secretary Augustus
Today, Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican Candidate for Governor, reacted to State Auditor Diana DiZoglio’s review of the state’s emergency shelter system. Shortsleeve is calling for the firing of Secretary Ed Augustus.
“This audit shows a systemic problem of carelessness with our tax dollars. Where do we go to get our money back from these pricey no bid contracts,” said Shortsleeve. “Healey’s team blew millions on shady no-bid contracts, handed out sweetheart deals, and got taken for a ride, literally, with $150 cab fares and bloated food bills. This is government by chaos: illegal contracts, zero oversight, and taxpayers picking up the tab. While veterans and working families wait for housing, Healey’s bureaucrats were writing blank checks. It’s incompetence at best, corruption at worst. Beacon Hill needs a total overhaul, and that starts with firing the Housing Secretary to be followed by firing Maura Healey.
“We need a Governor who will watch out for the taxpayers, not frivolously throw taxpayer money at a problem,” added Shortsleeve.
