Shortsleeve: Minogue’s Anti-Choice Declaration Destroys GOP Chances in November

BOSTON, MA – The Brian Shortsleeve for Governor campaign made the following statement today regarding Mike Minogue’s declaration on WCVB’s “On The Record” that he is anti-choice on the issue of abortion.

“In less than one minute in his first major appearance following the Republican convention, Mike Minogue gave Maura Healey all the ammunition she will need to defeat him in November,” said campaign spokesman Patrick Nestor. “Regardless of your personal opinion on the issue of abortion, one thing is crystal clear: you cannot beat an incumbent Democrat governor by being anti-choice.”

“Minogue has dodged primary debates for months because he doesn’t want voters to understand his agenda or his record. Minogue’s appearance this morning shows exactly why these debates are vital for Republican primary voters to be able to nominate a candidate who can win in November,” added Nestor.
