Shortsleeve: Healey Offers Excuses, Not Solutions in Convention Speech

BOSTON, MA – This evening, Maura Healey delivered her nomination speech to the Democratic State Convention. At a time when Massachusetts families are struggling with skyrocketing housing costs, unaffordable energy bills, and a state government that continues to spend beyond its means, Healey offered no plan to address the problems she has created.

Instead, she spent her speech attacking Washington and shifting blame for her own failed record. Rather than taking responsibility for the affordability crisis unfolding under her watch, Healey once again chose political deflection over real solutions.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Shortsleeve released the following statement in response:

“Maura Healey wants this election to be about anything other than her record because she cannot defend what has happened in Massachusetts on her watch.”

“This election should be about the people of Massachusetts and the challenges they face every day. We are last in economic competitiveness, last in job growth, paying the highest energy costs in the continental United States, and the most expensive state in America to raise a family. Those failures were not created in Washington. They were created right here on Beacon Hill by Maura Healey and the Democrat supermajority.”
