BOSTON, MA – Today, the campaign of Brian Shortsleeve responded to Mike Minogue’s new television ad touting himself as an outsider even as he boasts of winning the insider spectacle that was the Republican convention, and called for a series of debates across the Commonwealth before the September primary.
“Congratulations to Mike Minogue for winning the contest for support of the Massachusetts Republican political establishment. Now, 300,000 primary voters will get their say. They will not settle for television ads filled with platitudes and empty rhetoric, no matter how much money he puts behind them,” said campaign spokesperson Patrick Nestor. “Voters are entitled to hear from the candidates in a series of one-on-one, debates with the largest possible audiences so candidates who want to be governor can answer tough questions about their records and agenda for the future. Four years ago, we had a candidate refuse debates and he was completely unprepared for the general election and lost badly. We can’t afford to repeat that mistake.”
“Brian Shortsleeve is the outsider candidate fighting the political establishment of both parties, fighting for small business interests over big business, and fighting for the working people of this state who can’t afford another four years of Maura Healey,” said Nestor
