Shortsleeve Calls on Rachael Rollins to Drop Out Amid Signature Fraud Allegations

Aug 11, 2026

BOSTON, MA – Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Shortsleeve today called on Rachael Rollins to drop out of the Suffolk County district attorney's race following allegations of fraudulent signatures on her nomination papers.

Chelsea Republican City Councilor Todd Taylor has said his signature was forged on a Rollins nomination sheet, while the Boston Herald has reported additional questionable signatures on her papers. Shortsleeve said the allegations, combined with Rollins' previous record in office, raise serious questions about her fitness to serve as district attorney.

"Rachael Rollins has already demonstrated that she cannot be trusted with public office. The Biden administration U.S. Office of Special Counsel found that her conduct constituted some of the 'most egregious transgressions of the [Hatch] Act that OSC has ever investigated.'

"Now, we're seeing allegations that obviously fraudulent signatures were submitted to put her back on the ballot. Election fraud has no place in Massachusetts, and we have an obligation to call it out wherever it occurs. Someone seeking to enforce the law should not benefit from allegedly fraudulent signatures to get on the ballot in the first place. It is time to restore people’s faith in our electoral system.”

"Rachael Rollins should drop out of the race."
