SHORTSLEEVE CALLS FOR REPEAL OF DRIVERS LICENSES FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

BOSTON, MA –  Today Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor, called for the repeal of drivers licenses for illegal immigrants.

“We were told that issuing the licenses would help our car insurance rates by making our roads safer.  That has not happened.  Now we learn that a Massachusetts license was used as a valid identification for an illegal immigrant to become a police officer.  It is clear that the law is flawed,” said Shortsleeve.

“Drivers licenses for illegal immigrants is one of Maura Healey’s sanctuary state policies she has embraced that made our state a migrant magnet, costing taxpayers billions of dollars.  It sends the wrong message, undermines the rule of law, and comes with real security and voting risks. It’s the governor’s job to make it harder for people to break our laws and to hold those who do to account. Unfortunately, Maura Healey has rolled out the welcome mat. The insanity ends when I’m governor. We should repeal this misguided law.”

Shortsleeve is the only candidate for governor who has called for repeal of the law that was passed 4 years ago.
