SHORTSLEEVE BLASTS SLOW BLIZZARD RESPONSE IN NEW BEDFORD

BOSTON, MA — Republican candidate for governor Brian Shortsleeve today criticized the City of New Bedford and the Healey Administration for a botched recovery following the historic blizzard that has left hundreds of side streets uncleared and residents struggling to reach work, school, and essential services days after the storm:

“Families have been stranded for days, missing work, missing school, and worrying whether emergency vehicles can even reach their homes. Government exists to handle emergencies like this, and when the response is slow and disorganized, residents pay the price. The governor showing up for one photo op doesn’t make up for a slow and plodding response. Leadership is about results. Residents needed urgency and coordination, and they didn’t get it. A storm may be unavoidable. A botched recovery is not. People deserve accountability and a plan to make sure this never happens again.”
