SHORTSLEEVE BLASTS BEACON HILL DEMOCRATS FOR BLOCKING TAX RELIEF, CALLS VOTES “A VOTE-O-RAMA OF HIGHER COSTS”

BOSTON, MA – Today, Brian Shortsleeve slammed Maura Healey and Beacon Hill Democrats after they voted down budget amendments to lower the state income tax, suspend the gas tax, and implement “no tax on tips” for those making less than $25,000 a year, delivering what Shortsleeve called a “vote-o-rama of higher costs on working families.”

“This vote-o-rama of higher costs on working families is exactly why there’s a tax cut on the ballot this year, because voters don’t trust Beacon Hill politicians to do their jobs and provide critical relief for those struggling under Maura Healey’s affordability crisis,” said Brian Shortsleeve.

“Massachusetts is unaffordable and uncompetitive because of high taxes, burdensome regulations, and skyrocketing energy costs, and today’s votes prove nothing is going to change as long as the same people are in charge,” Shortsleeve continued. “They’ve never met a tax they didn’t hike or an opportunity to give money back to working families that they didn’t pass up.”

“As governor, I will focus like a laser on reducing costs for cash-strapped working families through tax relief, cutting expensive red tape, and rolling back all of Maura Healey’s budget-busting ‘green fees’ that have caused utility bills to skyrocket,” added Shortsleeve.
