BOSTON, MA – On this Veterans Day, Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor, today announced the formation of the Veterans for Shortsleeve Steering Committee comprised of distinguished military veterans supporting Shortsleeve’s candidacy and leading his outreach to fellow veterans across Massachusetts.
The committee brings together more than 23 veterans who have continued their commitment to country and community through public service, business, and civic leadership.
“Brian Shortsleeve exemplifies Marine leadership through example, integrity, and clear mission,” said retired Marine Corps Major General Raymond C. Fox. “He’s not a politician looking for a title; he’s a Marine answering the call to serve. Massachusetts needs that kind of leadership right now.”
Shortsleeve, a former Marine Corps captain, served our country honorably, leading Marines on deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Persian Gulf, where success meant critical thinking, making tough decisions and always putting the mission first. Those same values – discipline, responsibility, and service above self – have defined his work in business and public service.
Former Marine Corps Major Corrie Mays, the first ever female Marine Blue Angel, added, “Veterans recognize leadership when we see it. Brian is someone who takes charge, delivers results, and puts people before politics. Massachusetts veterans, and all citizens, can trust him to lead with the same honor and commitment he brought to the Marine Corps.”
“Brian Shortsleeve embodies the mission-driven leadership and expertise Massachusetts needs,” said Dan Magoon, former U.S. Army Paratrooper and Veteran nonprofit leader. “As a Marine, he’s never stopped serving — whether leading Marines overseas, building businesses and creating jobs at home, or driving real reform in state government. His discipline, integrity, and accountability have proven he can fix broken systems and bring real leadership to the Commonwealth.”
In announcing the committee, Shortsleeve expressed deep appreciation for the group’s service and support.
“I’m humbled to have the backing of these men and women who have worn the uniform and continue to serve their communities,” said Shortsleeve. “As a Marine, I learned that leadership means committing to a cause bigger than self-interest and always completing the mission. As governor, I’ll bring that same mindset to reform state government, and I’ll always fight to make sure no veteran in Massachusetts is ever left behind.”
