Shortsleeve Campaign Cites Grassroots Momentum
BOSTON, MA — A new University of New Hampshire poll confirms the Massachusetts Republican gubernatorial primary remains wide open, with Brian Shortsleeve continuing to demonstrate the strongest position to win both the nomination and the general election in November.
Despite being dramatically outspent by his opponents who have little measurable movement in the race to show for it, the Shortsleeve campaign reports growing grassroots strength across the Commonwealth, driven by expanding volunteer engagement, a social media audience that is exploding month-over-month, and increasing small-dollar donor participation.
“While others lean on personal wealth and manufactured support, Brian’s backing continues to grow organically,” said Ryan Chamberland, campaign manager for Brian Shortsleeve for Massachusetts. “Grassroots donors are increasing while volunteer engagement expands. We have the winning message, the right plan, and the largest social media audience in the race. That isn’t manufactured buzz. That’s momentum.”
Campaign officials point to steady increases in volunteer recruitment, local organizing activity, and grassroots fundraising as evidence of organic momentum.
“Manufactured buzz fades,” Chamberland added. “Real support grows. We’re seeing that growth every week: neighbor to neighbor, volunteer to volunteer, voter to voter.”
The campaign emphasized that Massachusetts Republican primary voters have historically rewarded candidates with authentic grassroots support rather than those relying primarily on personal spending or outside influence.
Chamblerland also reiterated that Brian Shortsleeve remains the strongest Republican candidate to defeat Maura Healey in the general election, citing his focus on affordability, fiscal discipline, and restoring economic competitiveness to Massachusetts.
The campaign is encouraging supporters statewide to get involved immediately by recruiting new volunteers, sharing the campaign’s message within local Republican networks, hosting grassroots events, and contributing to the campaign.
“Grassroots energy and message wins primaries in Massachusetts. It always has,” Chamberland said. “If we stay disciplined and keep building, we will win this primary and be in a position to win in November.”
