Brian Shortsleeve for Massachusetts LOCAL WINTHROP LEADERS ENDORSE SHORTSLEEVE FOR GOVERNOR
WINTHROP, MA — This week, former Winthrop Town Councilor Rob DeMarco and Attorney Diana Viens announced their endorsement of Brian Shortsleeve for Governor of Massachusetts, citing his clear and unequivocal commitment to repealing the deeply flawed MBTA Communities Act and standing up for local control. Viens and DeMarco said Shortsleeve is the only candidate in the race who has listened to Winthrop’s concerns and pledged to put cities and towns back in charge of their own zoning and development decisions.
“For years, Winthrop has been forced to fight back against the MBTA Communities Act because it ignores the realities on the ground in our town,” said DeMarco. “We don’t have the infrastructure to absorb massive state-mandated housing growth, and instead of working with us, the Healey administration chose to threaten and punish communities that raised legitimate concerns.”
