BOSTON, MA – For the second poll in a row, Brian Shortsleeve is in a stronger position than Mike Minogue to defeat Maura Healey in November. The latest UMass Amherst/WCVB poll reinforces what the numbers are making increasingly clear: Shortsleeve is the Republican best positioned to take on Healey in the general election.
Shortsleeve spokesperson Pat Nestor released the following statement:
“Mike Minogue says Republicans should nominate him because he has the money to defeat Maura Healey. But since entering the race nearly a year ago, Minogue has spent more than ten times what Brian has on television advertising, yet Brian Shortsleeve is still performing better against Healey.
“There is a reason Democrats are boosting Minogue in the primary with ads appealing to supporters of President Trump - because he is the candidate they want to run against so they can attack him on abortion and corporate scandals as a wealthy healthcare CEO. And there is no amount of money that will change that.
If Republicans are serious about defeating Maura Healey in November, they need to nominate the candidate who can hold Healey accountable for her failed record without all the distractions. That candidate is Brian Shortsleeve.”
