Brian Shortsleeve Vows to Lead Ballot Initiative to Lower Income Tax Rate

Boston, MA –  Following the Supreme Judicial Court’s decision to remove the income tax reduction question from the ballot because of a serious error by the Attorney General’s office, gubernatorial candidate Brian Shortsleeve announced today that he will lead an effort to return the measure to voters in the 2028 election cycle.

“Taxpayers are desperate for relief, but either through incompetence or a deliberate strategy by the attorney general to sabotage this effort, the people have been denied the opportunity to make their voices heard. But this will be only a temporary setback, because when I am governor, we will cut taxes and the people will be heard, as I will personally lead the effort to ensure this initiative is back on the ballot in 2028. That’s why I’m committing today to doing everything I can to put this question back before the voters in 2028. When the initiative window opens on August 1st, I will propose language to begin that process. There is no reason to wait.”
