SHORTSLEEVE: IG LETTER ON PIKE SERVICE PLAZA PROCESS DISPLAYS HEALEY ADMIN’S CORRUPTION, INCOMPETENCE

BOSTON, MA — Republican candidate for governor Brian Shortsleeve today criticized Governor Maura Healey and her administration following a new report from the Massachusetts Inspector General finding that MassDOT failed to follow its own procedures during a major procurement process for the Massachusetts Turnpike service plazas, resulting in a collapsed contract and forcing the state to restart the process.

“This is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Maura Healey and her Administration: bad leadership from the top leads to terrible management at every level. The Inspector General found MassDOT didn’t even follow its own procedures on a major service plaza contract, and the deal collapsed, leaving taxpayers holding the bag. Just like I warned last summer, this process was a sham from the beginning. The incompetence and corruption of this administration is astounding. Massachusetts residents are paying the price for her leadership failures.”
