Doughty Endorses Shortsleeve

BOSTON, MA – Today, Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor announced the endorsement of former Republican candidate for Governor Chris Doughty.

Doughty, a respected leader in Massachusetts’ business community and a strong voice for fiscal responsibility, emphasized Shortsleeve’s unique combination of private-sector success, public-sector reform experience, and commitment to delivering results for working families.

“Brian Shortsleeve is exactly the kind of leader Massachusetts needs right now,” said Doughty.  “He’s a disciplined fiscal manager, a proven reformer, and someone who will always put taxpayers first.  Brian has the experience, humility, and backbone to take on the hardest challenges in state government and win. I am proud to endorse him for Governor.”

Shortsleeve thanked Doughty for his support, calling him “a principled leader who ran a campaign focused on affordability, economic growth, government efficiency, and common sense—values that continue to resonate with voters across Massachusetts.”

“Chris warned us about the affordability crisis especially when it came to our utility costs.  He saw first-hand how utility rates put his business at a competitive disadvantage,” said Shortsleeve. “His endorsement sends a message that every fraction of the GOP is getting behind our mission for Massachusetts.”

Today’s announcement adds to Shortsleeve’s growing coalition of support from elected officials, community leaders, reform advocates, and members of the Republican State Committee.  Shortsleeve’s endorsement list includes Senator Peter Durant, Representatives Marc Lombardo, Nick Boldyga, and Paul Frost, Mayor Shaunna O’Connell, Taunton City Councilor Larry Quintal, Republican State Committee members Sean Powers, Dan Hickey, Alex Hagerty, Jess Boldyga, Mark Bodanza, Caroline Cunningham, Ryan Chamberland, Tim Smyth, Judy Crocker (Vice Chair), and Amanda Peterson (Secretary), former Republican State Committee member Greg Casey, former State Representatives Ginny Coppola and Dan Webster, former Barnstable County Sheriff Jim Cummings, and former State Representative and Barnstable Town Councilor Will Crocker.
