BOSTON, MA – Today, Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor, announced he has donated $200,000 to his campaign to cap off a successful 2025. Shortsleeve’s personal contribution comes after raising more than $1 million from 2,399 individual donors, making him the runaway fundraising leader in the GOP primary.
“I am in for this race. In order to defeat Maura Healey, we need a candidate who is raising money across the state, winning endorsements, and delivering a message of change for Massachusetts. Over the past six months, I have built the strongest grassroots fundraising effort with over 2399 donors and I have built a powerful grassroots team. I am capping off this effort with a person donation—not a loan—to my campaign,” said Shortsleeve.
Despite being outspent by millions of dollars, recent polling by The Boston Globe and Suffolk University shows Shortsleeve leading the GOP primary by 9 and 16 points over Mike Kennealy and Mike Minogue, respectively. In addition to raising the most money from grassroots donors, Shortsleeve has been the winner of numerous online polls and the only straw poll this season.
“This donation as well as the more than $1 million in grassroots support signals that we will have the resources we need to win the primary, defeat Maura Healey in the General Election, and make Massachusetts affordable for working families,” said Shortsleeve.
Shortsleeve’s growing endorsements includes: Senator Peter Durant, Representatives Marc Lombardo, Nick Boldyga, and Paul Frost, Mayor Shaunna O’Connell, Taunton City Councilor Larry Quintal, Republican State Committee members Sean Powers, Dan Hickey, Alex Hagerty, Jess Boldyga, Mark Bodanza, Caroline Cunningham, Ryan Chamberland, Tommy Balcom, Tim Smyth, Judy Crocker (Vice Chair), and Amanda Peterson (Secretary), former State Representatives Ginny Coppola, Jeff Perry, and Dan Webster, former Barnstable County Sheriff Jim Cummings, and former State Representative and Barnstable Town Councilor Will Crocker.
