SHORTSLEEVE BLASTS HEALEY SPENDING; CALLS ON GOVERNOR TO COME CLEAN ON MASSHEALTH MIGRANT SPENDING

BOSTON – Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor, blasted Governor Maura Healey’s latest spending spree – a $2.45 billion supplemental budget on top of the bloated budget she just signed.

“Massachusetts taxpayers cannot afford her insatiable appetite for spending other people’s money,” said Shortsleeve.

Over $2 billion of this additional spending is for MassHealth, which is the single biggest cost driver in the state budget. Shortsleeve called on Healey to explain how much the state has spent in the MassHealth program on migrants.

“Massachusetts families are getting hammered by taxes, fees, and the second-highest cost of living in the country, and Healey’s answer is always the same – spend more and hide the details,” Shortsleeve continued. “She needs to come clean on how much MassHealth spending is going to migrants and explain why working people are being forced to foot the bill. When I’m governor, we’ll restore fiscal sanity, end sanctuary state policies, and put Massachusetts citizens first.”
