BOSTON, MA – Today Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor, issued the following statement regarding the latest development on Tompkins.

“The silence coming from the governor’s office is deafening. Maura Healey needs to do what should have been done last Friday and call on Tompkins to step down as sheriff immediately. We cannot have as the top law enforcement official in Suffolk County someone facing federal extortion charges. Her continued resistance is another rotten example of the Democrat machine circling the wagons to protect one of their own,” said Shortsleeve.
