BOSTON, MA – Today Marine Corps Veteran, successful business leader, and proven government reformer Brian Shortsleeve, Republican candidate for governor, criticized both Maura Healey and Mike Kennealy for the costly migrant crisis.
“As today’s Boston Herald reveals, responsibility for the migrant shelter mess is shared by Maura Healey and Mike Kennealy, who as secretary of housing expanded the emergency shelter system, opened hotels to migrants, and started the spending spree. Despite the ongoing surge in illegal immigrants, not only did Kennealy not urge reforms to the right-to-shelter law, but instead requested $130 million more to pay for housing and benefits,” said Holly Robichaud, strategist for the campaign.
“Kennealy’s recommendations to Healey, as the Herald reports, “focused on the need to expand shelter capacity and provide more funding to the emergency assistance program.” It was Kennealy’s playbook that Maura Healey picked up and ran with, ultimately costing taxpayers billions of dollars and counting,” said Robichaud
“Both Kennealy and Healey are to blame for this costly and preventable crisis. Beyond taking Kennealy’s advice, Healey also went to the border to encourage the migrants to come to Massachusetts. She supported Biden’s open border policies. She declared a state of emergency to pass out no bid contracts. She refused to restrict taxpayer funded benefits to our legal citizens. We don’t need Healey or Kennealy in the corner office. They have both proven that they will not protect the taxpayers,” said Robichaud.
